Dambulla Ground

The only international stadium in the proximity of the Cultural Triangle, this stunning arena can facilitate 30,000 spectators and becomes a cauldron of noise on big match days.

Built to give the national team the opportunity to play home ODI's throughout the year (it is in a dry zone and very rarely rains), it has now hosted numerous high profile games since it inaugural match back in 2001. The land is leased from the neighbouring Buddhist temple and has stunning views of Dambulla Rock and Lake. On a clear day the World Heritage Site of Sigiraya can be seen in the distance.

The wicket is bowler friendly, seamers in the morning and spinners in the afternoon and the stadium amazingly for one of its size was built in 167 days.
