The paradise island of Sri Lanka may not immediately spring to mind as a destination for golf hungry travellers, but as you will discover the sport has a long and illustrious history here, as well as three stunning courses.

It was back in the heyday of the British Empire that Sri Lanka, once it had become a British colony, was first introduced to golf and Royal Colombo became the first official seat of the sport when it was inaugurated in 1879.
